Back at it in 2018!

Short Week! On Tuesday we moved our classroom to the new YVEA office building. A great space with a cool contemporary vibe!

On Wednesday we worked on our class business. We have shifted from a talent show to a one night film festival showcasing outdoor themed films. We had to alter the Business Model Canvas we did earlier to better represent the new project.

Thursday we visited the Chief Theater in downtown Steamboat. Scott Parker, executive director, helped the kids better understand the challenges of running a performing arts non profit and he focused on "Public Speaking" as a key business concept.

Friday, board member Rich Lowe helped the kids translate the business model canvas to a more formal business plan.

CEO Guest Speakers

The Chief

Scott Parker

Scott Parker, Executive Director of the Chief Theater hosted us on Thursday. Scott energetically walked the students through the ins and outs of running a non-profit, performing arts theater. Scott was asked to hit one of our key business concepts and he was very articulate and passionate about "public speaking." His background as a performer and teacher make him very well qualified to speak to this topic.

Scott was also very generous in sharing his own personal business journey.

In the next month or so, we are going to join Scott for some team building excercises with Juggling and Improv! Watch out Were Not Clowns!!

Business Plans

Rich Lowe

Board Member Rich Lowe came to class on Friday to help the kids formalize the business plan for the Class Business:WZ GOT FILM. The kids learned how to transfer the Business Model Canvas to a more standard one to two page business plan.

Get Involved in CEO

The manner in which the CEO program is funded is critical to its success and sustainability. All funds raised are used exclusively for the Routt County CEO program. To participate, a 3-year $1000 per year commitment is required. Business Partner Investors commitments of time and energy are also critical to the program's success. Contributions may be tax deductible, as our organization is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.

When we are not touring local businesses, we need a place to host the class. During that time, the 0 CEO students and their Facilitator would meet at your site where they would also have guest speakers and guests from the community attend. Hosting requires a facility with internet access and adequately accommodates up to 5 people.

We are looking for people to share real-life stories about the concepts of running a business, from strategic thinking, product development to marketing, and cash flow management. Also, sharing your personal successes and failures are what recent classes have enjoyed the most.

If you are interested in participating in any of the above programs, use our contact form to send us a message
